What do you think of Medeski?
Medeski plays that heavy industrial crunchy jam funk band shit. His concerts are noisy chop displays.

Who Else Doesn't Like Medeski?=Boring.
You can't really construct anything interesting on a negative.
It's a form of hubris for me to think a personal list of stuff I think sucks would be engaging for anyone else.
Unless, of course, I offer an insight or radical angle on what sucks that clarifies, instructs or challenges the other.
That's it.

I walked out of his concerts twice. Why was I there at all? The concerts were part of a festival package. Nuff said.

Although I generally find their records quite boring and I've increasingly disliked the stuff they've put out, I think their shows are quite remarkable. I've heard some boots, watched some concerts and been at one and despite my very low expectations I was really satisfied. I find them a very tight band that doesn't play only funk as many seem to agree, and that turn a couple of hours into a very entertaining thing. They're great musicians individually and they definitely have a chemistry. "End of the World Party" is one of the worst cds I heard last year, but I still thing they're very good in their own style.

I suspect if you liked the kind of music Medeski or MMW played, you would like it.

I remember liking 'Notes from the Underground' quite a bit, and digging less the two or three others I've heard. I still liked them ok, but they just seemed kinda the same, which would be ok if they offered something to go back to. In short, enjoyable but disposable.
Maybe I'll give them another spin when I get a chance to see if I change my mind.

The early MM&W records are great fun. I like Medeski's work on Bar Kokhba quite a bit, as well as MM&W contributions to Tzadik compilations/tributes.

I quite like Combustication and The Dropper. Good car music, I would say (and that's how I use them -- along with Ruins, more consistently).

'Notes From Undergound' and 'Live at Tonic' are both good. The new one is garbage I'm afraid. At least to my ears.
