To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM), Creativity Magazine is hosting “Two Generations of AACM Band Leaders” on May 14. The event will feature performances by Roscoe Mitchell (pictured), Malachi Thompson, Kahil El’Zabar, Harrison Bankhead and Vincent Davis and will also pay tribute to AACM founding member Kelan Phil Cohran.
The anniversary concert will take place at Chicago’s HotHouse and tickets are $17 for the general public and $15 for students. More information on the venue can be found at
