The Kaufman Center presents Repercussions––an historic joining of members of Max Roach’s M’Boom with young contemporaries, So Percussion, on Tuesday, May 24, at 8 PM, at Merkin Concert Hall. This multi-generational celebration of percussion will feature separate performances by M’Boom (selections from their repertoire), and So Percussion ("Shifty" by Dennis DeSantis, "Percussion Quartet" by Melanie Schoenberg and "La Vida e Taro Raro" by Suzanne Farrin). The Kaufman Center has commissioned two additional works by Muhal Richard Abrams and Anthony Davis for this program. These pieces will be performed by a group of eight percussionists from both M’Boom and So Percussion. The stage will be transformed into a cornucopia of percussion with instruments from all over the world including Balinese gongs, homemade chimes and exotic cymbals.
