Calling all JCers for the New York Gigs!!
Ok, I missed Dennis last year when he was here---because I was very sick w/ a horrible cold--hacking cold, fever, the works! I don't Pete has ever completely forgiven me. I hope he finds it in his heart to do so someday!
Anyways, who's going to Dennis' gigs, when, where, are we getting together for dinner first---let's figure it all out folks!
Yeah, I'll get to meet the wonderful and sweet and lovely Dennis!!

Vision Fest already did us the "favor" of moving our Vision show up...it was a hassle to fill in. Why don't you come to the East Coast a week earlier and come to all our gigs? 'Twould be great! Yells At Eels!

Dennis, any chance you & the boyz will be available for dinner on Sunday the 19th, or do you want to be at Vision for the sets preceding yours?

Hmmm, I don't know about June 19, that's Father's day. But I may be able to make dinner. Do we have to eat softshell crabs (I'm not a big crab eater) or will there be other things on the menu as well? How about the June 13th show at the Downtown Music Gallery? I think I'm going to that. What about dinner after that? Where, exactly, is the downtown music gallery?

There would be many other things on the menu, but to not like soft shell crabs is downright heretical. I can't make the 13th.

I'm sorry, Pete. Maybe I'll try them. I'm just not a big soft shell food type fan--I love lobster though. Can you recommend any good restaurants near the gig on the 13th.? Maybe I'll go out to dinner after.

DMG is on Bowery, near Bleecker. I'd recommend Euzkadi:
http://www.euzkadirestaurant.com/intro.html
108 E. Fourth St. (between 1st & 2nd)
New York , NY 10003
Phone: (212) 982-9788 - E. Village
- Spanish
Basque restaurants don't seem to register much on New York's culinary radar. In truth, Euzkadi reflects the East Village far more than the Pyrenees. No traditional Basque outfits or sheep-herding scenes here, just a small, brick-walled dining room with comfortable Mission-style banquettes and a young clientele. The menu is not so much unusual as subtly different, with items like an excellent appetizer of a cake of bacalao, or dried salt cod, that is puréed and deep-fried. Service is swift and attentive. Dishes served á la plancha, or sizzling on a cast-iron skillet, like shrimp, which arrive with heads still on, are first-rate. Seafood dominates the menu, but two other dishes are worth highlighting: a pork paillard, served over a delicious ragout of escarole, sausage and white beans, and tender braised rabbit in a slightly sweet wine and prune sauce. Closed Sun.
Other recommended dishes: Green bean, fig and walnut salad; grilled sardines; lentil salad with sausage; calamari piperade; bacon-wrapped trout; braised monkfish; roasted cod; figs with rosemary; quince tarte Tatin.
