Moné not sure why the delete is not working in classifieds... can you see why, please? You know with my run of luck... I'll end up deleting the whole section.... but users can delete their posts everywhere else but not in classifieds.
thanks

Lois, people can't delete the first post in a thread anywhere on the board, and in Classifieds, the person who's "running the ad" starts a new thread and hence can't delete that first post.

Yup, I just deleted the first post (mine, of course) of a thread in Classifieds, and with it, the whole thread. The power! The majesty!
Moné, did you enable first post/whole thread deleting all over the board, or just in Classifieds?

You shouldn't be able to delete the whole thread if others have posted to it...only your post, if that's the case, it needs to be changed...

Lois, this is exactly what needs to be done in the Classified area. True, you shouldn't allow it in other areas, but in the Classified forum, most replies are "Sent you a PM about the disc". There is no reason to keep that thread (and filling up precious disk space on your end) after the item is sold. I think you would be wise to allow full thread deletion capabilities in the Classified forum or else block the ability to add replies to "For Sale/Trade" posts in this forum to allow the poster to delete the ad after the item is sold.
On another board, I used to post items for sale and if I forgot to delete the thread after it was sold, almost guaranteed I would get e-mails months & years later asking me if the item was still available. I can't imagine how bad that would get if the thread can't be deleted.
Later,
Kevin

Lois, I agree with Kevin completely, at least for the Classifieds forum, where all the replies have to do with one person's original post or "ad."
FWIW, my item finally sold through another jazz board, and I was able to delete the first post and the rest of the thread there.
