This is a Montreal premiere for the internationally renowned duo. It is also a long-awaited concert for local jazz fans and a perfect occasion to sample John Zorn's recent works, from Masada Book Two , The Book of Angels . Here is a rare opportunity for Montrealers to experience live, this outstanding duo!

One of the things I like about l'Off Fest is the Venues. One of them is an old cabaret (Lion d'Or, I believe) which has been around forever but had not been used too much in recent years. Gorgeous.

The booking of this festival is often wonderful too. I'm glad to see they've decided not to entirely overlap with the FIJM this year!

My pick:
Normand Guilbeault Ensemble. Mingus Erectus. June 29. This band has a terrific new recording out on Ambiences Magnetiques. Great players, and a fitting and spirited tribute to Mingus. They've done this material before live in Montreal and it was well reviewed.

It's tough to pick from though - the lineup is so good.

Your choice is good. I heard someone (but i can't confirm) telling to another person that they sold all the tickets for Normand Guilbeaut concert.

I bought one for the June 30th, at the Lion d'Or for the duo Sylvie Courvoisier and Mark Feldman. I never see the place. When I bought my tickets, i asked about some information. The place have table and chair, not reserved seat and near 250 peoples can be there.
