The Economy is Really Roaring. I'm Downsized.

I have a regular job. It's a very good one for an actor to have actually. I sell ads for a magazine with a good amount of vacation time so that I can do acting work.

However, I have been downsized from an acting job that I had. I had twelve-fourteen days of really well-paying work doing "live industrials" for a mega billion dollar bank. I mean, this bank must make a gazillion dollars a day.

These bastards decided that they'd rather keep more of their capital gains taxes that were handed right to them, care of their buddy boy George W. Forget the fact that I was going to use that money to pay for our daughter's pre-school this year.

Greedy bastards.

I'm trying to turn it into a positive and figure out another acting job to get, which I am pretty sure I will.

But still, this company makes the money that they were going to give me in two breaths.

Blah. At least I have my regular job.

At least there's that. Most artists I know, including me, have regular jobs that pay the rent, thank God. I don't care what kind of regular job it is, as long as it provides stability, which my passion usually doesn't. I've done the darndest things, everything from working in department and convenience stores to doing census surveys, etc. etc. etc. just to eat on a regular basis. But, I know that it's not just the loss of income from your bank gig that is maddening.
I do still shots, on a job by job basis for department stores and accessory and jewelry designers, as well as weddings etc. . Sporatic at best, but those jobs are what I live for.

Don't worry, RBS, you'll get other jobs, better jobs. Get mad. But then....get back out there!!

My sympathy for this bad news. You might end up getting sick of hearing it, but... at least it wasn't your steady job!

No, I'm not sick of hearing it. I'm grateful for what I have. And hell, it's better than being in Afghanistan, even if freedom is on the march!

Thanks, Tom and Patricia...

I'm going to give you some advice you don't need, RBS: don't quit your night job.

I've yet to meet a bank owner who wasn't a beady-eyed cocksucker. Of course, I've only met one bank owner.
