Would you rather vote for...
Lately, the Parti Québécois leader gave up his place, so now there are 3 candidates running for the place: A woman, A gay guy, and an ugly old man. Eventually, there will be an election and people will likely have to vote for the winner.
Let alone the ugly guy, would you rather vote for a woman or a gay guy?
Your opinion please...

Are you kidding? Kansas (among other places) would fucking explode if a presidential election came down to Hillary Clinton vs. a gay Republican.

That's right.
It's the midwestern states, and only the midwestern states that don't like gays.
Oh, and Oregon.

Hmm.. I know for a fact that my inlaws would never vote either for a woman either for a gay, no matter what they've done, or what they're thinking. I know, too, that many people thinks like them.
I also know that many people don't even know the person they vote for. They go where the wind blows...
This poll is about that reality.

My opinion is done: I'd like for the gay guy to win. He got fresh ideas. The woman has worked a lot in the party. She's lost my vote with one thing she's done: when she was minister, and about to lose her job due to the election coming soon, she gave a CEO job to her husband knowing that when the government would fall, he would have to leave with a big amount of bucks ( prime de départ, I don't know how you call it in english).

"Severance pay" is the term commonly used. There is also the slang term "golden parachute" and that would usually apply to high level positions like this one.

C'mon, Scott. I'm only picking on Kansas because, well, because they're an easy fucking target. Let's complicate things: what happens if the gay Republican supports intelligent design, or whatever the fuck the anti-evolution forces are calling their cause these days?

I doubt it, at least not the anti-evolution cabal. If you're going take the Bible that literally, I'd think any gay Republican is going to reckon with their own sexual orientation before they get to the part about the world being 7,000 years old because some Shakespearian wannabe sitting in a tent in the middle of the desert with a roll of papyrus was tripping on dung beetles.

I definitely prefer Boisclair to Mrs. Marois. First of all, he used to be my deputy, and I think he will bring fresher ideas to a party that definitely needs them if they want to get somewhere (read: independence of Québec). Pauline Marois lost all credibility for me with her half-a-million dollars bathroom... (or whatever it ended up costing us taxpayers...).

About Marois, some say she's more moved by being the first première Ministre du Québec than the Québec independance project.

I promised myself not to post in Politics, since most people would think I'm just another bloody socialist from up North, but since this touches me more directly... here I am!

I don't know about that, but one thing for sure, some people will never forgive her for backstabbing Landry for the last two years or so... It's certainly the first time in years there are so many candidates at the leadership of the PQ! I must say I had quite lost interest myself, and felt closer to the UFP and Françoise David, but we'll see what happens now...

I just don't understand thinking like this. It doesn't seem very political to me. How in the world can you expect to win elections without winning people over and how in the world can you expect to win people over with such smug arrogant attitudes. I say this as someone who has actively supported progressive causes for the past 5 decades. From the perspective of a democratic (small d) polity, I simply don't see how we can ever hope to win people over to a progressive agenda without some sense of empathy.
