Paul Conrad, the best editorial cartoonist the LA Times ever had. He still contributes regularly. They guy they have now is so knee jerk radical conservative that he's completely predictable.

Tom Tomorrow, for his ongoing ability to keep it real in the delusional media world of the Bushies (The insurgency is in its last throes...Now that's funny! Oh, wait, no it's not). And Garry Trudeau (even though I think the strip is probably ghosted to some extent by staff these days) for long-term satirical sharpness mixed with a deep, at times nearly tender, sense of humanity.
