Toronto?
The Toronto Jazz Festival is never one of the better ones in North America but I just thought I'd check to see if any JCers were attending anyway, as it's always nice to meet up. The things I'll be trying to attend:
Ted O'Reilly's talk on the 25th
Ed Thigpen, the 26th
Dick Hyman at the Montreal Bistro, probably the day with Randy Sandke, the 29th
Quintet Sperandei on the 1st (the peculiar name disguises a band with Ned Goold & Neal Caine in it)
Sheila Jordan on the 1st 2nd or 3rd (this will be packed as it's the final jazz gig at the Top O' the Senator before the new owners junk the jazz programming)
the Italian Instabile Orchestra on the 3rd

Maybe if you would let us know the whole schedule rather than just the shows you will try to attend, more will give it more serious considerations, Nate.

Nate is apparently referring to the Toronto Downtown Jazz Festival, which is apparently different from the concurrent Ottawa Jazz Festival:
Toronto Downtown Jazz Festival website
(Click on each day's link for the full schedule)
Ottawa Jazz Festival website
There are threads for both festivals (including dups) in JC's Festivals 2005 forum.

The threads on the Toronto Downtown and Ottawa festivals in the Festivals 2005 forum weren't terribly informative anyway. I just added the schedule links, etc., to those threads.

What's the Ottawa festival got to do with Toronto? It's 6 hours' drive away.
Pete: it's June/July, in fact I think the first stuff starts today.

Pretend that you don't know regional or local venues such as "the Umpty-ump Centre" or "Scoobity Park," and try finding that out online.

I'dve thought that the word "Toronto" in the title & initial posting would have made it clear I wasn't talking about Ottawa.
I didn't post the thread to encourage people to come or to inform about the festival; just to see if any of the JC residents who are in Toronto or the surrounding area were coming & would like to meet up.

Nate--
I simply began to wonder if Ottawa was the same festival. Sorry if I confused the issue, and sorry that I came up with "Nat" instead of "Nate"! I've edited.

Sure, happens all the time. -- I don't know what the "Downtown" is doing in the title of the festival, probably to distinguish it from the Beaches festival. The official name is something like "The TD-Canada Trust Toronto Downtown Jazz Festival". Gag.
The main headliners, in case anyone's curious, are the Dizzy Gillespie ghost big band, Joshua Redman (Kenny Garrett has the second billing--he's the opener), & Sonny Rollins. Kenny Barron is playing the Montreal Bistro too. The festival continues to shrink every year, & as I said, at the close of this one another venue (the Top o' the Senator) goes out of commission.
