SO....how hot is it out your way?

What's it like where you live, eh?

The "Legendary Heat" of the San Joaquin Valley is back and with a vengence.

108 yesterday....106 today.

Lows in the mid-70s.

We're going on two weeks of 100+ degree days.

Ugh

High 80s/low 90s the past week or so. It's 80 right now, which is pretty warm for an evening temperature at 9:30 PM. We had a heat index of 105 the other day. That sucked. Very, very humid.

Humidity does suck....big time.

In my Liittle Land O'Enchantment, when the humidity reaches 40% or more coupled with 100+ degree temperatures, it is just down right brutal. The air quality suffers as well.

Some years ago, I was in Wisconsin [Madison] to visit my Aunt and Uncle and the humidity was 60%.....and 95 degress.

Ack.

Very pleasant here today. The high was in the low 70's, and it's 60° at 1:40am. We've had a wonderful summer thus far, with highest temps in the mid to upper 80's, but mostly in the mid-70's. Virtually no humidity, either.

Eat your hearts out!

Peppercorn,
On a tv quiz show, there was a trivia item which stated that Alaska and Hawaii were the only 2 states in the USA which never recorded
a 90 degree day. I don't believe this. Can you help?

I hate July and August. The heat and humidity are simply unbearable.
I wanted to go outside last weekend, I really did. It was sunny. It
looked nice from inside but I only got a couple steps out in the driveway
before I said F**K IT!!!!

Hawaii? That can't be right. It's 90 degrees every day there.

No, Hawaii will feel like 90 or 100 with the humidity, but the temperature never gets that high when you're surrounded by water.

In the wake of Dennis we had 85 degree temperatures with the humidity making it feel like triple digits, at least according to AccuWeather. It felt pretty humid, but not that bad.

At 9:30 AM, it's 70 degrees and 70% humidity. That's perfect cigar storage weather!

The weather sites all show high 80s for Hawaii regularly. You're telling me that the crucial leap of a couple degrees never peaks over 90? That's the part I can't believe.

Spent a summer in Kentucky; we used to count the 80-80 days (temperature and humidity) when it would get totally insufferable, which was pretty much most of the summer. We've been there briefly the last couple of days - 80/82% (at 10 o'freaking clock during the Red Sox/Yankees game Sunday night, ugh). 81/85% Monday; mostly during a brief crossing pattern when the temperature goes up to the upper 80s and the humidity dips into the 70s during the day.

We seem to be catching a slight break with the humidity today - *only* 54%

Honolulu is forecasting a high of 90 today. Maybe the reference was off by ten degrees?

That could be. Record high for both states is 100 degrees bang on the dot. Everyone else is up over 104.

It's never been warmer than 106 in D.C. though? Doesn't sound right...

That I can totally buy. 90 just seems way too low a temp for Hawaii to never venture past. If you're hanging around the high 80s year 'round, it's only a matter of time before everything aligns perfectly and it ticks up a few degrees. Weather is pretty fickle that way. Low continentality or not.

Obviously the water is the deal. Hawaii is a similar elevation to northern Mexico, so it's not that. Even around the Great Lakes, the water effect is huge. I was up North a couple years ago at a house right near Lake Huron. It was in the mid-40s in late June one night. At home in Detroit, it was in the low-70s. That's just crazy.

Yesterday it registered 117 however the day before it was up 121 in my neighborhood. It just saps your energy.

Some folks who have lived here their whole life said this is the worst they have ever seen. We'll be flooding as soon as the remnants of Emily hit the desert. 109 and rain is the weekend weather prediction.

High point of my day yesterday was meeting Jim Plunkett. Nice guy. Looks just like Tommy Lee Jones. Yummy.
