Plumber fined for taking a leak
Plumber fined for taking a leak
A plumber caught on camera relieving himself in a customer's loft has been fined £3,778 and ordered to do 150 hours community service.
Roy Williams, 46, from East Grinstead, Sussex, was captured urinating into a vase before pouring it into the water tank at a house in Leatherhead, Surrey.
He was convicted in June after his actions were filmed by hidden cameras placed by Trading Standards officers.
Williams was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday.
He was also convicted of attempted deception after charging £173 for replacing valves that were not faulty.
The court was told Williams had to urinate after being overcome by "bright lights and the sound of running water" and that he had a medical condition dating back to his childhood which meant he needed the toilet regularly.
But officers with Surrey Trading Standards had rented the house in Leatherhead for six months and rigged it with hidden cameras.
Williams, who worked for Always Maintenance, was convicted of attempted deception, making false trades description and making a reckless statement, having denied all the charges.
