Elvin Jones / Jimmy Garrison - Illumination!

Was listening to this album the other day, Elvin's drumming is amazing on this album, and an awesome lineup Sonny Simmons on english horn and alto saxophone, Prince Lasha on clarinet and flute, Charles Davis on baritone, Jimmy Garrison on bass and Mccoy Tyner on piano. They all contribute original tunes, Davis's Half and Half has to be one of my favorite tracks on the album. But all of them are good. I just wish this group recorded more then just this one album.

It's really wonderful. Charles Davis really stands out on a couple of tunes, IIRC.

A fantastic date, as is Heavy Sounds, recorded a few years later:
Jones/Richard Davis/Frank Foster/Billy Greene, also on Impulse.
