Mal Waldron on Steinway

Mal Waldron On Steinway (Fuel 200)

Solo piano, recorded May 11, 1972 in Paris, originally released in Japan.

Reissued February 2005

Wonderful album for all of us Waldron fans who may have missed this rerelease! Four pieces: a cinematic "Portrait Of A Bullfighter" followed by two superb homages, "One For Bud" and "For Eric Satie", and a rhythmic and impressionistic "Paris Reunited". Mal at his very best. Highly recommended! (And some helpful, no BS liner notes by our own Scott Yanow.)

I had this on LP 20 years ago - it's been a long time since I heard it, but I remember it being a good one...........

must be a must have

Henriette (my sweet wife) demands for me to add this album to my cart next time I go shopping on the Net. She says I must put it on the top of my shopping list. Henriette is not easily charmed by jazz (she's into requiems), so I guess it's a great album. I will give you my feelings as soon as I hear it.

See you

Francis

Coco says "bonjour le jazz"

my son ; Coco ! This little "garnement" can't help making noise with spoons when he hears good jazz. Tryin' to follow the beat !

This is the bomb, just picked it up today. . .early 70s vintage solo Mal. Sound is kind of muddy but no matter, almost up there w/Signals but not quite.
