I Am Trying To Break Your Heart

I write this in anticipation of watching Sam Jones' Wilco documentary, a DVD I bought over the weekend. I've been immersed in the new album over the past few days and have my hopes that the DVD will bring some things home. A fan of uncle Tupelo for almost 12 years now, I watched that group become destroyed and splintered, with one party successful, the other (more hopeful) not so much. I was never fully clear on what exactly prompted the breakup and hope, but doubt, that this documentary will shed some light.

The DVD looks promising and offers the chance to see Jim O'Rourke and Fred Lonberg-Holm in their creative elements. So many reasons why I'm itching to watch it, but I'll reserve further comment until I've actually seen it!

Whoa! There's a new album? Newer than YHF?

A very good doc, and nice extras on the dvd - lots of extra footage. Haven't watched the commentary yet.

Fyi, you're supposed to turn it up when watching, Al. :)

And if you can figure out what the story is with that Hispanix joke-interviewer, lemme know! He has some funny stuff in the extras too.

I was supposed to have caught this in the theater in Annapolis in February, but my flight from Munich was canceled and I missed it. :-/

No, Sergio, Al's just catching up, is all. Actually, there is the online-only EP (known as Australian/Bridge/More Like the Moon) that's later than YHF. Not essential though. But heck, it's free.

... a double kick drum on the Landing in the summer. She fell in love with the drummer, she fell in love with another. She fell in love.
