" With her sexy, throaty voice, her dead-on sense of swing and rare sense of humor, the 'in' place to be is wherever Margolis happens to be performing."

Mad-Kat Records is pleased to announce that joining Kitty to emcee at the shows will be two of the Bay Area’s best-loved jazz radio personalities. On Thursday June 5, Jesse " Chuy" Varela, the Music Director of KCSM will be on hand. Chuy was on the crew that recorded Kitty’s debut CD at the Jazz Workshop in 1988, and it is a real treat to have him involved 15 years later for Kitty’s second "Live" recording. On Friday June 6, welcoming Kitty to the stage will be Bob Parlocha, the legendary voice of KJAZ and current host of the syndicated program "Jazz With Bob Parlocha" (www.jazzwithbobparlocha.com). Bob has legions of friends and fans on the Bay Area jazz scene who will surely be thrilled to see him!

Kitty is about to record her new "live" CD at an ultra cool venue on Broadway in North Beach (the Broadway Studios-formerly the On Broadway Theater.) This unique event will be taking place 15 years later and a few doors down from the legendary Jazz Workshop, the scene of landmark recordings by Thelonious Monk, Bill Evans, Cannonball Adderley and Charles Mingus as well as Kitty's debut CD "Live at the Jazz Workshop," which created quite a buzz in 1988. The June 5 - 6 recordings will be released later in the year as Kitty's fifth CD -- and you're invited to the party!

Kitty says, "I am very excited about these concerts and about this trio. There is absolutely nothing that compares to the "without a net" exhilaration of recording live in performance. Obviously, it's risky because there are no 'fixes,' but the energy between the artists and the audience is something that no studio recording can ever capture."

"For awhile now, people have been asking me when I was going to do another live CD. I felt that now would be the perfect time since everybody is complaining (rightfully so) about the jazz scene in San Francisco being so dismal. Pearl's, the last real listening room in the city, just closed. I decided, why not liven things up around here and create my own scene? I wanted to record live again in North Beach, my neighborhood, with its deep jazz history, and do something to keep the jazz happening in our city. People here are so hungry for intimate, authentic places to hear the music. "

"After looking all over for just the right place, we discovered The Broadway Studios a 'funky meets glamorous' old theater with the perfect vibe. I know everyone will be crazy about this venue. I'm really looking forward to playing in my hometown and seeing all of my friends at the shows. We are planning to have some major fun and of course, everyone at the concerts will be on the CD!"

Joining Kitty in concert will be a smokin’ trio that Kitty has assembled especially for these evenings: Michael Bluestein on piano, Jon Evans on bass and a very talented guest from New York, Allison Miller on drums. The multi-facted Evans just got off the road with Tori Amos and is all ready to dig in to some jazz now. Bluestein has a nice new release, "Ambient Soul" which you can check out at www.michaelbluestein.com. The amazing Allison Miller and Kitty were recently reunited while touring Australia. They first met while leading gigs at the Kennedy Center Women in Jazz Festival several years ago. Check out her chops at www.allisonmiller.com.
