Jazz musician Francy Boland dies at 75

BRUSSELS: Belgian jazz pianist and arranger Francy Boland died at his
home in Switzerland. He was 75. The high point of Boland's career was a
big band that he led in the 1960s and '70s with American drummer Kenny
Clarke, Belgian news agency Belga reported Friday.

He also worked as a songwriter and arranger for more famous jazz
artistes including Count Basie and pop singer Gitte Haenning.

The time of Boland's death was not immediately reported.

Just picked up a 2CD set that's amazingly hot in a used bin...always a stellar group of bandmates.
The set I picked up had both Benny Bailey and Art Farmer among the trumpet section.
