I love this album, it definitely is in my top ten for Duke. I just love it for the breadth of it, the colors and variety, and such a great band. It really is a complete work with a few themes that he develops and integrates in many different ways throughout. It's some really creative stuff, and I think it was under utilized in the movie and seemed to be mixed low in the movie too. Of course Duke is in the movie briefly as Pie Eye the road house Piano player, I think with Ray Nance, Paul Gonsalves, Jimmy Woode and Sam Woodyard, Jimmy Stewart sits in with them, it's hilarious.
