Early in '94 I saw him sing a wonderful version of "Lost in Loveliness" with the Lincoln Center band at a concert in DC. His vocal on "Strange Feeling" on James Newton's The African Flower is a standout on an album with many great tracks.

We can be grateful for what he gave us, but it's too bad he wasn't more widely-heard.

Few people remember Milt Grayson who recorded just a few songs with Duke Ellington. His only appearance in Brasil was with the Louis Bellson & the Ellington Alumni Big Band in the Free Jazz Festival of 1999.

Ever Onward, Ever Upward!

So saddened and yet so enobled, and humbled to learn of the passing of Milt Grayson. His recording of "The Blues" (The Great Paris Concert) changed my outlook on singing jazz. A great artist, I will carry him in my heart as long as I live.

Madly,
E.

Yes!

And isn't there an ECHOES OF HARLEM on that LP, as well, with Milt Grayson plucking away?
