Ebay selling

Reid

There has been some concern from Jazzcorner artists about Ebay allowing the selling of bootlegs and unauthorized recordings (especially live concerts) I know Dave Holland's record co and atty and manager and Renee Rosnes and several others try to stop at least one of these devious folks (a lady in CT)

They also reported to Ebay. Has Ebay improved its policy do you know when it comes to stuff like this?

If anything, ebay has gotten worse at responding to notices that illegal material is being sold. Their "pat" response to me has always been that only the "holder of the copyright" can contest the listing. What the hell are they talking about?? Basically, unless the artist being bootlegged complains, ebay does nothing.

Later,
Kevin

In that, they are not unlike any record store that sells boots and promos in the used bins, so I'm not surprised. Not to mention buying the boots and promos in order to sell them.

When posting a musical item for sale, eBay will post a disclaimer saying that you are responsible for the selling of it and that you should not sell any items that are bootlegs or that infringe upon copyright laws.

They only care about protecting themselves, not about protecting the rights of the artist.

Sorry, I haven't responded to this before. But I really don't know the answer to that, Lois. I've only recently bought something from ebay, and I don't have anything for sale yet. But I hope to soon.

what are the CT state laws on this? Why not report her to the local authorities? I live in CT and I am sure they would make the arrest if it would somehow benefit the state. It's almost broke. Thank god I am leaving 6 months.
