Jazz Live! Headliner Concerts
"A NIGHT OF ELEGANCE WITH JON HENDRICKS"

Jazz history comes to Queens, as 84 year-old jazz legend Jon Hendricks, known throughout the world as the "Poet Laureate of Jazz," appears for the first time ever on the Flushing Town Hall stage on Friday, October 21st, at 8:00 PM. Hendricks will perform in the elegant and unforgettable musical style called "Vocalise," which he invented nearly a half-century ago.

Jon Hendricks, the only artist that Thelonious Monk and Duke Ellington allowed to lyricize their music, was the founder and creator of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross - an iconic jazz ensemble which enjoyed a five-year hold on the title "Number One Vocal Group in the World" from Melody Maker and Down Beat magazines in the 1960's, and whose work has strongly influenced generations of jazz performers since.
