Low Down Dirty Blues

I'm listening to George Thorgood and the Delaware Destroyers right now and I have to wonder how many of you dig the Low Down Dirty Blues.

The Twelve Year Old Boy

I feel bad, I feel terrible, I'm just as sad as I can be
I feel bad, I feel terrible, I'm just as sad as I can be
I let a boy that's twelve years old, take my baby away from me

He used to hang around my grill, until late into the night
He used to hang around my grill, until late into the night
Well I never dreamed that my baby and that boy could be so tight

Well if a young boy hangs around you, you better do what I should have did
Well if a young boy hangs around you, you better do what I should have did
Well you send him over to your neighbors and hope your neighbors like kids

I Don't Wanna Go To Vietnam

John Lee Hooker

Sittin' down here thinkin', I don't wanna go to Vietnam
I'm sittin' down here thinkin', I don't wanna go to Vietnam
I have all these troubles at home, I don't wanna go to Vietnam
I read the news every day, I read about Vietnam
I read the news every day, I read about Vietnam
I got so much friends in Vietnam, I might not never see them no more
Sittin' here thinkin', I don't wanna go to Vietnam
Sittin' here thinkin' thinkin' thinkin', I don't wanna go to Vietnam
You men in the street have so much trouble of their own,
why they wanna fight in Vietnam
Have mercy...
Lord have mercy, don't let me go to Vietnam
Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy, don't let me go to Vietnam
I have my wife and my family, I don't wanna go to Vietnam
We got so much trouble at home, we don't need to go to Vietnam
Yeah yeah there's a whole lot of trouble right here at home,
don't need to go to Vietnam
We oughta stay at home, stay out of trouble
I don't wanna go
I don't wanna go... Vietnam…

Up And Gone

Tab Benoit

Standing in the doorway speaking your mind
And then you're out the door, leaving me behind
And every time something goes wrong
You're up and gone
You know I surely, surely would love to know
Where you go when you walk out that door
You know I would wait all night long
For you to come home
Oh yes I surely, surely would love to know
Where you go when you walk out my door
Lodr, every time something goes wrong
You're up and gone

For mine, George is more a matter of Not-So-Low-Down Clean Blues.

I dunno.

One Burbon, One Scotch, One Beer and I Drink Alone are fairly good candidates, IMHO.

Don't get me wrong, I've spent time boogy-ing to Geo over the years, but just find him a little clean cut. Sorta like what Jamie Cullum is to jazz.

When I think dirty, I tend to think of guys like this:

George could roll in the mud at the bottom of the swamp for a month and he still wouldn't be half as dirty or low down as Hounddog.
