Pre-loaded iPods
Anyone out there selling preloaded iPods with all the jazz classics loaded?
I am guessing it is just a matter of time before Blue Note or some other company does it.
No?

Excuse me, I'll be right back....
Contacting Blue Note and pitching the idea as his own with no trace of guilt or shame over committing acts of plagiary,

Yikes! How much would Blue Note charge for its complete catalog on pre-loaded device? And what nefarious anti-copy bullshit would they build into the thing? It's too hellish to contemplate. Nah. Give me the stuff for free: give me a friend with a great collection, give me a library.

I immediately thought of Starbucks®. And I don't mean that in a good way, necessarily.
I like loading my iPod with what I deem important, not someone else's idea(s), thank you.

If I get an iPod, I too want to load it with what I consider what is important, not what another company thinks that I will like. Considering that I work at a commercial TV station and volunteer at a college radio station, I want stuff in my iPod that reflects my taste thank you. I do have very diverse taste in music and not all of it is in the commercial realm.

Pre-loaded iPods?
My God.
Have we given up our love for music to the technology-heads, too?
Tell me....who gets to choose which artists get on the iPods in the first place?
Score one more for the coporate suits.
Damn.

Relax, Tim. Rollhead was asking a question, not lamenting a fact.

I've loaded more than 3,000 track on mine of the stuff that I like.
I don't need somebody else to do it for me.
I hear that the latest version of itunes is more compatible with Windows XP. I've been using musicmaker which is pretty clunky but the earler versions of itunes didn't work worth a damn.

Um. It hasn't happened yet.
We shouldn't let him keep score.

so, it would be illegal for me to pay someone to load it with the stuff I wanted on it?

Not necessarily illegal, but it's not that profitable to load an iPod with all the recorded material of N' Sync. They didn't release that many songs.

Would only be illegal if it were unlicensed material you requested. You can certainly pay someone to take your CDs, digitize them, and load them onto an ipod you bought. Or for Apple and Blue Note to collaborate on such a pre-loaded ipod, as you suggested. Most music companies are too fearful about file-trading, though, to supply the files themselves.

It's illegal to pay for it. But maybe you can get it for free?
"Hey, baby, wanna pre-load my iPod?"

i-Tunes does now have, for instance, what they call the "Stevey Wonder Digital Box" which has 500 songs.
Would think that more of this will happen if not already.
