This year's International Young Jazz Talent chosen by IAJE and IJFO

Saxophone player Kjetil Møster this year's International Young Jazz Talent


11/04/2005 - Ballade


International Jazz Festivals Organization (IJFO) and International Association For Jazz Education (IAJE) have together chosen Kjetil Møster as this years international young jazz talent (under 30 years old) Kjetil Møster competed with 8 young musicians from Europe and Canada.





He's been playing with:
- Trondheim Jazz Orkester with Chick Corea og Pat Metheny,
- free improvisation withPaal Nilssen-Love and Maja Ratkje.
- The Core
- Zanussi Five,
- Trinity og
- Møster/Zanussi/Nordeson Trio,
- rock music with King Midas
- and others

Kjetil Møster to Receive IJFO International Jazz Award

Norwegian saxophonist Kjetil Møster will receive the IJFO International Jazz Award For New Talent during the 2006 IAJE Annual International Conference. A graduate of the Trondheim Music Conservatory, Møster has participated in a large number of groups in Norway, from the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra with Chick Corea and Pat Metheny, to free explorations with Paal Nilssen-Love and Maja Ratkje. Møster will also perform during the conference.
The IJFO International Jazz Award for New Talent recognizes an emerging artist whose promise is collectively recognized by the IJFO members and IAJE. The award is intended to provide a catalyst for the recipient's career, and includes a fully-funded international tour. The member festivals of IJFO are: Jazzfest Wein (Austria), Pori Jazz Festival (Finland), Jazz Á Vienne (France), North Sea Jazz Festival (Holland), Umbria Jazz Festival (Italy), Molde International Jazz Festival (Norway), Festival de Jazz de Vitoria-Gastiez (Spain), Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), International Istanbul Jazz Festival (Turkey), Festival International de Jazz de Montreal (Canada), Vancouver International Jazz Festival (Canada), Monterey Jazz Festival (USA), Ravinia Festival (USA), and the London Jazz Festival (UK).

Oh, forgot to tell you that Kjetil Møster's site is up.

By chance I caught him in a solo concert in Kongsberg this summer, not knowing what he was all about. At the time he made me think of Evan Parker - well, partly.
