I think he just came back to life. And he's going on tour.
11.11.05 Turning Stone Casino Resort - Showroom Verona NY*
11.26.05 Sinatra Theatre Presented By BankAtlantic Sunrise FL*
12.07.05 Augusta Civic Center Augusta ME*
12.08.05 Poland Spring Arena at the Ritacco Center Toms River NJ*
12.09.05 Sovereign Center Reading PA*
I get a lot of requests for Kenny Rogers' "Islands In The Stream", a duet with Dolly Parton, but The Gambler is the one I call a square dance to, great singing call version on Chaparral.

He does kind of look dead.
OTOH, the alcohol seems to have done a relatively good preservation job.

Not nice to get someone's hopes up first thing on a Sunday morning.
I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in.

I saw him at a casino in Laughlin a few years ago. . .sitting in a restaurant with a royal blue suit on. I was rock hard. Thinking about this reminds me of a friend once telling me about standing behind Clint at a restaurant in some wealthy Colorado town at seven in the morning. He ordered a hot roast beef with extra onions and a green Gatorade.
RIP KENNY

Back when Will Sasso was on Mad TV they used to do some great Kenny Rogers bits. I'm not sure he'd be too pleased with 'em....

I'm sensing some skepticism on the "deadness" question. I suppose we can go around and around on that. But still I don't see anyone sharing memories yet. Really, what's it going to take?
And you decorated my life
Created a world where dreams are apart
And you decorated my life
By paintin' your love all over my heart
You decorated my life
Seriously, we all have important feelings we can share here. That's how the Gambler would have wanted it, right?

Plainly speaking - I don't give a shit about Kenny Rogers and if he died yesterday, today or tomorrow, I wouldn't give a flying fig.
I did not even bother to try his chicken restaurants.
The hell with that fat white dork.

John, I liked Kenny Rogers when he was with the First Edition.
I was not all that fond of his country phase.
I didn't know he had restaurants, or that they were fried chicken restaurants.
But, anyone who can make music that makes people happy is doing something good. Bringing joy to people is a noble calling.
So, as I feel sad when any person who tries to do good, I feel sad that Kenny Rogers has died.
He was very successful at what he chose to do.
RIP Kenny Rogers.

The the guy actually die?
I'm far from the best online searcher, and I haven't found an announcement; so let's not cover the guy with dirt or fire up the burners quite yet...

Mike, I can't find anything either. You're right. Lets not be flinging around dirt or any other funeral-related paraphenalia yet.
If I may quote a famous American, Mark Twain, if Kenny is reading this, he may be right now repeating the comment, "Rumours of my death have been greatly exagerrated".

Patricia hit it!!
I agree with her completely! I loved him w/ the First Edition. Anyone who can write the lyric "I just dropped in to see what condition my condition is in" is brilliant, imho!

If he hasn't died, it's a pretty classless joke, IMO.

Patricia - don't you think it's odd that there is no mention ANYWHERE but this forum that a 'major' star like Rogers has 'died'?

Yes, I do. So what's the deal? Has he died or not? If not, it is indeed a tasteless joke.

I haven't found any indication anywhere but this thead that he has died, either. and I think we've mentioned before that this was not an acceptable form of humor. not funny.

Exactly. We have posted many obits on this board, but never one for someone who is not really dead. There are more than enough who are gone forever and we mourn them genuinely. So, if Rogers is still alive and I haven't found any evidence to the contrary, and this is somebody's idea of a joke, it fails.

"and this is somebody's idea of a joke, it fails."
------------------------------
It fails b/c it is not even funny if it was a joke.
It isn't funny if he is alive or dead.
Plain out not funny. No laffs in sight.
The replies are better than the original post.
Worse - the poor old dead/undead singer has/had a really difficult name to spell properly. I could never remember if it was Keneee Rahgerrs or Ken E. Rhagjurrs.
Oh, wait. Lemme look at the pics the original poster posted. Hmmmmmm....wonder if those are Photoshopped?

Oh Hell if it is a joke, it is a joke. Most of his career was a joke..so what1
Although I must say he does a good job for the History Channel, narrating The Real West.

I think this may be similar to Larry Nagel starting an "RIP Rod Stewart" thread.
Hmmm. What about a Kenny Rogers-Rod Stewart duet album? Now that would be classic!

I used to live above a Kenny Roger's Roasters chicken place in NYC.
Never ate there. It opened and closed pretty quickly.
