Happy Thankgiving
I tried to post this earlier, but it didn't work.
Anyway, I'd never remember to put this up at a later date, so have a HAPPY to you all!

I'm a vegetarian, and I thank you for a wonderful Thanksgiving greeting.
For all you evil carnivores out there - watch out. I knew it would be just a matter of time before the turkeys demand their rights.

Guess where I'm spending my Thanksgiving? In TV land!
I have a coworker who is going on vacation for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'll be lucky if I get Christmas off this year.

When *is* Thanksgiving? I have no idea, but if I am working that day, I will have to work the holiday.

Thanksgiving is Thursday, Nov. 24. So it is far too early to blather about this holiday. But if you're making preparations already, the Roman Catholic calendar I am looking at says Nov. 24 is also the feast day of Vietnamese martyr Saint Andrew Dung-Lac. He and some companions were beheaded outside Hanoi in 1839 for the crime of being priests. Canonized by Juan Pablo Dos in 1988. So now you know. You might try serving turkey with nuac mam in order to commemorate. Delicious.

Yes, Jazzzoline, in Canada it is October 10th. Our American friends celebrate Thanksgiving at the end of November, necessitating dealing with the leftover turkey, the dreaded 20 pounds of sullen protein, almost up to Christmas, when another turkey is presented in celebration of the season.
I've often thought that having Thanksgiving in October might be one tradional holiday that our American friends might consider copying from us.
When I lived there, we followed their tradition and I still had turkey leftovers from Thanksgiving while I shopped for another one for Christmas.
Still, tradition is tradition.

Here, there's no Thanksgiving tradition. No turkey, no nothing. Just a day we usually use for the yard work.

Thanksgiving is the best holiday - it's about eating.
Forget the religious crap and just dig in.

I'll be visiting my kids in the Vail Valley in Colorado, a stunning part of the country to see. Will be staying in thier new home, which I had previously walked through in June prior to it's completion.
It's flying on 11/23, the bussiest air travel day of the year, which I've never done. Have new i-pod Nano filling up and a book will be at the ready. Coming home on Saturday 11/26, which will be less hectic, if we don't get snow, which is always possible there at that time.

That's because with winter coming on, 10/10 is the last possible day to give thanks for anything north of the border;-)))

And drinking. I have more fun choosing the wines to drink than planning the menu. Not to mention that opening bottles is easier than cooking.

Please continue...
First time today for me flying the day before Thanksgiving, heading to the airport in about an hour.
Western US weather cooperating, so hope all goes reasonably well...
New i-pod Nano all jazzed-up and ready!

I'm gonna come down there and steal that damned oyster dressing one of these days, Shrugs. I gotta have me some of that.
It's just another working day for me but we usually choose some other day when all concerned have the time and have a couple of good friends (not necessarily the same ones each time) over for our own time to give thanks for what he have to be thankful for and that would especially be good friends. It'd be a hell of a different life without them!

Anyone here frying the bird? Never did it or tasted it, but I've always been intrigued.
Do you serve onion rings with it?

I've got to drive 290 miles north to my in-laws, and there's a forcast of freezing rain and light snow. Frickin' sweet.

I haven't [we BBQ the bird] but I am told by several friends and collegues who do, the process really holds in the flavor and juices.
I figure you can serve just about anything with it

Jon, I think I said it best and said it too often:
Kenny's music and television movies will live on forever and ever and well after this beautiful earth is but a smoking cinder that the apes will have to cool down before choosing to inhabit and then they will certainly come across Kenny's legacy preserved in one of those black boxes that the airlines use and won't those apes be happy when they do?
That's timelessness, man.
RIP, Kenny.
And may we all toast him (in the raised glass sense) at the turkey bash tomorrow.

I celebrated it in Quebec city back in 2002 and then back here in Ahia of course; I think the growth ring from that year is *particularly* large. Then again, Kenny Rogers was still with us so it was a happy time.
