Sure, you've read about them. In fact, you've probably even written about them. But where the hell were they located?
OK, here's a chance to see for yourself. On tap this weekend: three New York walking tours focusing on architecture, local history and the process of change within neighborhoods.
On Friday, June 6: "Brownstones, Biscuits & Bebop," a stroll through central Harlem past sites related to the civil rights struggle, important neighborhood churches and some of Manhattan's loveliest residential streetscapes. Meeting in front of the Lenox Lounge, 288 Malcolm X Blvd. (adjacent to the 2 and 3 trains' 125th St. stop)
On Saturday, June 7: "Times Square Reinvented," a walk through Midtown's ever-evolving entertainment district, with a look at historic theaters, restaurants and music clubs, the area's most remarkable new towers and sites associated with notorious crimes and scandals. Meeting in front of Zuni, 598 Ninth Ave. at W. 43rd St. (near the 42nd St. stop on
the A, C and E subways)
On Sunday, June 8: "Along Harlem's Main Stem," covering significant sites lining the liveliest stretch of W. 125th Street, as well as landmarked residences in what was once New York's second largest Jewish community, where an open-homes event is taking place the same day.
Meeting in front of Luci's on the SE corner of Frederick Douglas Blvd. and W. 124th St. (one block from the 125th St. stop for the A. B, C and D trains)
What's more, each walk also includes a close look at the part these neighborhoods have played in New York jazz history. For more specifics, visit:

All walks begin at 11:00 AM, rain or shine.
Fee for each: $15
