Not much of a hat person, but for worship, a nice little kipa (what you may know as a yarmulke, or yamaka) fits nicely over the spot where my hair is thinning:

For those of you who wanted to pick "bucket hat," I apologize for not listing it as a poll option.

I can't wait til Ron Thorne gets here. He loves hats!
Recently, I've been wearing a big black fedora-type hat. It used to be a bit big, but with the braids it fits perfectly.
I am also fond of berets and tams. I often make the latter for myself (and then I freakin' lose 'em!!).

I sympathize with that approach in general. Except when it gets cold. Then I go with the ever popular Cor Blimey cap:

You obviously lack Polish genes, sir. I mean, if it's 0 degrees with a +25 mph wind, maybe I put up my hood (if the garment I'm wearing has one). Otherwise, there are few more wonderful feelings than cold air rushing through one's hair.

I long ago eschewed vanity for practicality, especially when the wind can freeze earlobes to the point of no return. I go for the full-on toque.

A stiff sea breeze and -18 in Helsinki made me dammed happy to have a mink hat like the one in the image - I really thought I'd lose my ears without it. Hats are great.

What kind of profiling are you up to, rollhead?
I only cover my head when it's really cold, or if I'm participating in a Jewish ritual service. Hats always mess up my hair.

I highly recommend them!
Super comfy, ultra warm. I've never worn another type of ski cap that even comes close.

For babes (when the little lady isn't looking), of course, but steve(thelil) tells me that yimping is more effective.

Believe it or not (I know you will), I once wore a hat like that after watching the movie "Signs" with my son some years ago. We went to the glasses store wearing them.
