Cannonball Adderley - Money in the Pocket

With the Monk-Coltrane and Coltrane Half Note discoveries on the market, it is understandable that this Cannonball release didn't get too much attention. Although it is newly released live material, there is no shortage of good live Cannonball on disc.

I have a LOT of live Cannonball and didn't rush to get this one. But now I am VERY glad that I did. For those who love Cannonball, particularly his low down bluesy side, this is elite material, a major addition to his discography (IMO). This is the 1966 band with Joe Zawinul, Herbie Lewis, and Roy McCurdy, and they really stretch out here. The whole disc is a blast. I particularly like the version of "Here Me Talkin' To Ya." What Cannonball does with rhythm during his solo just hits the spot. The version of Fiddler on the Roof is superior to the one on the studio album.

This is just to bring to the attention of Cannonball fans a release that might otherwise get lost in the shuffle.
