Fred Blassie, RIP

Wow, a childhood icon leaves us.

Nothin' but a pencil-necked geek.

I was never into wrestling, but he was among the first wrestling stars I knew about.

Can ghosts bite?

Will have to go to the Dr. Demento site and see if they can point me to a copy of "Pencil-neck Geek".

I was really into pro wrestling as a girl (I feel like maybe I shouldn't admit that). I don't think Blassie was wrestling at the time, I think he was just managing. But sure, I knew who the cat was.

Bye Fred.

He's dead? He's faking! I'll murder the bum. I'll rip his head off. He's too scared to get back in the ring! Fred Blassie: I challenge you! If you're a man, rise from the dead and see if you can take a real wrestler!

--I'm not a real wrestler, of course, but I thought I'd try to enter into the spirit of things. RIP.

Nobody has mentioned the Ayatollah Blassie, manager of the Iron Sheik. I'd be surprised if McMahon doesn't buy his body to prop up as a curio for one of his pay-per-views.

Professional wrestling: The sport of Kings!!

Thanks for starting this thread, Brian; I didn't know if anybody had noticed!!

I've got some vinyl of "Pencil Neck Geek" in a box somewhere. I'll have to drag it out and give it a listen.
