sss,
I like this one, but didn't find it an easy or amicable listen. Agusti seems intent on chipping the laquer off his keys and mangling his instrument's innards with all sorts of preparations while Mats stays busy with a steady barrage of slap-tonguing, reed pops & raspy drawn out tones. There really isn't any 'straight' blowing to speak of, mostly just long stretches of percussive texture-crafting, though two cuts feature some bruising free jazz-ish fisticuffs. If you like the more abstruse sides of either player's personality then I'm pretty sure you'll dig this.

Apologies for piggybacking this thread, but has anyone heard 'Mountain Blues from Sweden' with Mats and guitarist David Stackens?

SZ,
I like BLUES too, but haven’t returned to it since the 4-5 requisite spins to formulate a review for Paris Transatlantic. It’s actually akin to CRITICAL MASS in some ways with both Mats & Stackenas dealing in industrial textures & tones rather than anything resembling clear cut structures or tunes. Blues in a Delta or Chicago South Side sense it ain’t.
sss,
Haven’t heard NEWS FROM THE SHED yet, but I’m really looking forward to it.

News from the Shed is great, by all means pick it up. Haven't yet got the Emanem but I have the original LP release. -- I have the AF/MG & haven't listened fully to it yet; will report back.

Though I dig Gustafsson, and I try to have as open ears as possible, this one is simply too much for me. I was tired from the first cut to the third where I've given up
