How do you feel when....

....you start a thread and you get a big fat fawkin' zero for replies. Do you shamelessly bump it back up or do you let it die in peace? Do you get frustrated and want the world to die? Do you shamelessly reply to your own thread in hopes of getting others to respond? Please discuss. Thank you for your cooperation.

Indeed...how does one feel?

Don't you also hate replies that are one or two sentences long and go absolutely nowhere?

Assuming it's a good thread, you shamelessly reply to yourself. You can't let the bad taste of others keep back the health of the board!

Some threads catch on, others don't. It depends primarily on some connection between the moon phase and the number of times the letter "g" is used, I think. You can't worry about it.

Just let it go. Posting ain't a popularity contest and popularity often does not have any interesting weight.

You can always put up a second post indicating that while you have not taken the snub personally, you are shocked and dismayed at the lack of enterprise on the part of fellow posters to respond to your original thread, and that next time you'll dumb it down enough for them to understand what you were on about.

You might add something about the loneliness of genius, just for color.

Sorry I can't offer advice: I have no experience of the situation you describe.

If you really want a response--say, if you've asked a question that hasn't been answered--there's nothing wrong with shamelessly bumping up the thread, IMO.

But as Sergio and a couple of other people said, don't take it personally; that's just the way it goes sometimes.

You give it a couple of days, then grab it and plop it into another similarly focused BBS. If that brings response, you know it's not you--if your thread is also ignored in its new location, go back to the drawing board.

BTW, why don't you give us an example of your stagnant threads? posted as an example, it will definitely draw response

Put the word "Sex" in the title and you'll immediately get a response.

I seem to be the master of no reply threads and the killing of existing threads. When you have a "pungent" personality, I guess, you gotta expect that kinda shit.

Besides, I'm sure I'm not the only one on this board, who as a kid was referred to as "weird little boy" and people kinda shyed away from. So, you get used to that stuff and take pride in being an oddity of sorts.
