Interesting under the radar art shows in NYC

On Friday I went to the NYPL main research library where they have a major show on illuminated manuscripts and books--some wonderful stuff. There's also an interesting historical map exhibit.

I haven't been yet, but this prints show at the AXA Gallery looks very interesting:

All are free.

Pete, thanks. You probably already are aware of this link to the New York Public Library digital art collection, but it's more than worth everyone's click:

http://www.nypl.org/digital/digitalgallery.htm

From the site: "NYPL Digital Gallery provides free and open online access to hundreds of thousands of digital images from NYPL collections, including illuminated manuscripts, historical maps, rare prints and photographs, and more." Very, very cool.
