Women We Love II: Super Sexy Seventies Edition (Non-Sleazy!)
I didn’t want to derail Rollhead’s thread, and also thought this topic deserved its own venue. Here you can share your NON SEXIST memories, ruminations, enthusiasms, and PG-rated fantasies about the fine ladies who made that decade so super. And you know, it wasn’t just about the jiggle, the Farrahs and the Suzannes. Many of those sweet gals had brains, too. Let’s celebrate them!
In no particular order:
Adrienne Barbeau

What a smart, and yet sultry, lady. Classy, and yet sexy.
The Landers Twins

Combined IQ: 208. Combined sexiness quotient? Hey, if you have to ask, maybe Marie Osmond is more your speed!
Marie Osmond

You know what they say about Mormon girls! Seriously, she was, and still is, a thoughtful lady, as well as a singer.
Cast (female!) of One Day at a Time

That cramped Hoosier apartment was an estrogen hothouse. But Bonnie Franklin, Valerie Bertinelli, and Michelle Phillips were much more than just your more-bodacious-than-average next-door neighbors. As Snyder would say, they were classy, special ladies.
Gloria Gaynor/Donna Summer

Kind of a toss-up here! One worked hard for the money, and one was truly a survivor. But they’ve both got a classy kind of style that makes you want to "strut your stuff"—as well as think.
Hey, now that I've got the ball rollin', what ladies of that era give you that special feeling?

I nominate Diana Rigg, in her "The Avengers" days.............and to this day.
A place is also reserved for Katherine Hepburn, in her early career. She got a little shrill later, but the early films were sexy and smart.
Both were my role models.

I saw that too, Noj, and assumed that I just didn't remember what Gloria Gaynor looked like. Thank you for clarifying my first impression.
A pretend lady is not a real lady, even though credit must be given that Ru Paul's efforts are amazing.

Ooooh, terrific choices! Keep the non-sleazy foxiness coming, y'all.
Sally Field
Get thee to a nunnery, girl!
Brooke Adams

Donald Sutherland has the right idea-- 'cause there's a body you just gotta snatch!!
Linda Lavin

I can just hear you: Linda Lavin?! Let me tell you this glorious lady made waitressing for Vic Tayback (RIP, Vic) an a act of sweet, hash-scented love.

Always thought of it as an '80s show, but I checked and, yep, it started in '79.
