Good timing, Scott. There was just a cover story in the Tampa Trib yesterday about all the "half-backs", the ex-northeners who are tired of all the hurricanes and have moved half back to places like NC and Tenn.

I'd be lying if I said such a move wasn't in the back of my mind. The Trib also had a listing and summary of all the (crap I forget, 28 we had this yr?) storms and their paths. I certainly noticed Tampa was luckily spared this year. I feel
like a stationary point on a dart board waiting to get hit.

I did hear yesterday there's a new disturbance out in the Atlantic but with the cool waters it isnt expected to get beyond 50mph and it's not expected to hit Fla.

Thinking about it, my main reasons for staying here are:
1. Investment in Lightning tickets. But with Center Ice, I could always see
the games if I moved.
2. WMNF - the best community radio station on earth is here
3. My "florida kids". I fear they'ed despise me for life if I moved them to
a colder climate
4. Related to 3, I'd miss retrieving the newspaper in my shorts in January

Main reason for leaving today: It finally got cool and work turns on the heat!!! AAAAARRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!! I'm TIRED of sweating.

Anyway, how is the mid-west? And thanks!

Oh yeah, I forgot. Another article said "Think next year will be better? Think again!" Next yr and the next several yrs apparently (as you had mentioned
yourself) are supposed to be just as bad. Hmmm, June, eh? Kids are out of school, weather is starting to get oppresive. Good time to move! What good
samaritan on this board would like to drop 250k on a 1400 sq ft, 13yr old house on the water in Tampa ("water" being "large pond"). Gators are no xtra charge! Neighbors are wonderful, though it'd be a plus if you liked both Kenny Chesney and Tito Puente. I'm sure they'd be glad to see this Evan Parker, Grateful Dead, Nels Cline blaring wingnut leave.....

Half backs? That's a new one. But, isn't that still essentially a snowbird? They just happen to stay an extra month or so.

Actually, from everything I've been able to piece together since last year, they're saying that this new "cycle" started in 1995. And it's supposed to last until sometime around the mid 2000 teens. Likely 2014 or '15.

And if you have Direct TV, you can still get the Sunshine Network! I had it when we first moved up, but switched to cable when we bought our current home.

Hmmm...........well, I can't argue with you on that one.

Weak.

You do for them fucking spoiled brats all their life and wht happens? They turn around and shit all over you during their rebellious teenage years. So I say fuck it. Get the party started already. It's time to look out for Daddy for a change.

Even weaker than #3. Retrieving the paper in your shorts in January is a sissies endeavor in Florida. Only real men can do that kind of thing here. It's not that hard really. You just have to be incredibly quick! And make sure you prop the door open so you don't accidently lock yourself outside. Oh, and watch out for that damned black ice.

It's like I told my boy down in PC(he moved there from Buffalo), Florida is for pansies because there's almost no possibility of dying when you go out to check your mail.

Ah yes, thanks for yet another reminder about why I left that shithole. If you saw what that kind of money could get you here you would sob uncontrollably for several days without a break.

Hahahahaha................people here still wonder why I start shaking and speaking gibberish whenever I get close to a lake. And they just jump in like nobody's business.

I usually need a drink after witnessing such events.

Half-backs. They came from NY, Mich, NE etc got tired of the hurricanes in Fla and moved half back to home.

A fan of WMNF! They finally moved into their new digs and out of that roach infested place on MLK. You gotta love the variety of music they play. I know you'll get a kick outta this. The station finally got my attention years ago as I was getting tired of hearing the same Bad Company tune every time I turned on classic rock..I was zoomin down the road, tuned in MNF and heard a bootleg recording of Floyd's Careful with that Axe, Eugene on a program called "The Freak Show". I flipped! It's not too often you hear that on the radio. So, I hopped on the bus. Course they're mostly tree-hugging liberlas there but I can deal with that.

BTW, 250k was my asking price. I payed 70k, appraised for 200. A man can buy lots of rum and spagettios with that. So, good deals on homes in
Middle Amerika you say?

And I lied about getting the paper in my shorts. I do the 5:30 am nude stroll.

Well, for $250k here you'd get a 3000 square foot home on 10 acres, three of which would be your own personal lake.
