The booze thread
Since there are beer, wine and single malt Scotch threads, I thought I would start a thread that covers the other stuff that folks drink -- brandy, bourbon, gin, vodka, and other distilled spirits. Hell, why not add fortified drink as well, unless Sherry and Port are covered in the wine thread.
My first vote goes to Germain-Robin brandy. My distilled spirit of choice.

Compass Box makes some nice blended Scotches that I like as well as single malts.

This was my milk for many years. Straight up. I'm not talking about doing shots. I mean just sipping on it in a tumbler. No ice, no water.

I've just about polished off the bottle of Marquis de Ribpere Armagnac 1974 I picked up in PAris in '01. I've been nursing it and won't share with anyone. It's the most delicious Armagnac I've ever tasted.
I'll take a good Armagnac over Cognac any day.
Another favorite is Bacardi Solera. Smooooth!

I've been doing that for quite a few years now too. One of life's pleasures, according to me.
Tastiest liquor I've ever had:
Not to easy to find outside of the Czech republic, though. Second favorite, taste-wise, goes to:
The blade of grass sitting in there makes all the difference. Also excellent in a glass of apple juice (the Polish way to do it, I've heard).

Booze is one of the many areas in which my development was stunted. Never got past beer and wine. Frequently got passed the beer and wine. Never refused.
Have been confused with refuse.

I've pretty much tossed beer over, unless out in a pub, which is a rare occasion today. Past few months I've been partial to the Absolut, with club soda and some lemon juice. One or two, most days after work. Usually one.

Our son's bartender girlfriend tells us that this stuff is very big with the younger crowd.
They do boilermakers with it. Yuck!

I'm surprised you could even read that article since The Hard Liquor Thread seems a bit out of reach for you.

Yeah, they've only been making bourbon in Woodford County for hundreds of years. What would they know about it.

May not be the finest brew under the sun, but it's priced right and they have a wonderful loyalty program, Maker's Mark Ambassadors, of which I have been a member for several years. They send you neat stuff and hell, I just plain enjoy drinking it.

Ack.
This would be comparable to shooting cough syrup with so much Budweiser.

They're called Jaegerbombs. Red Bull's the mixer. And they are dangerously tasty in high volume.

A few years ago I went to Whistler for a few days with two friends. On teh day we left for the airport, we were up at 4 AM, sluggin down the last bottle of Jaegermeister we had left. We also tried to deplete some KGB, but I had to give that one up as a lost cause (the ravages of age).

I cannot bring myself to drink any of the sugary stuff which includes Jaegerwhatsits and that Goldschlager crap. Flavored brandies suck the big one as well.

As for Jaeger... it blows!
