Afternoon, folks! Just wanted to clue in all you jazz heads to an amazing musician that you may never have seen/heard of.
John D'Earth is a name you may not know, although it's hard to believe considering he's played alongside of some of the greatest jazz and improvisational musicians of our time. Think Bruce Hornsby. Think The Grateful Dead. Think…Miles Davis.
The Charlottesville native has lent his trumpet to these, and other, ground and standard-breaking talents throughout the better half of the last thirty years. Along the way, he's found himself delving into the jazz world with the likes of Lionel Hampton, Mel Torme, Buddy Rich and Jon Scofield. The list is daunting to say the least.
By now, you're probably wondering, why HAVEN'T I heard of this consistent, musical staple? Beats me, but if you'd like to hear a bit of what this trumpeter is all about, go check him out at
http://www.johndearth.com/ and you can see what I'm talking about. His new album, Mercury features Jaml Milner, Carter Beauford (of Dave Matthews), Wells Hanley, Pete Spaar and Bobby Read. In addition, Dave Matthews pops up for a cameo as well. Check it out, it's well worth the listen.
He's a good friend and I'd love to spread his music around. If you guys have any specific questions, please ask away, or contact me at
crazyredbeard@hotmail.com.
Hope all is well with everyone there! Much love and good vibes!!
