I like Kung Fu Fighting, American Pie and almost everything on Clint's list!

I vote for You're Having My Baby. Neil Sedaka's baby. Ugh.

"Having My Baby" was Paul Anka, no? "Love Hurts" is a terrific song, in either the Everly Bros or Gram and Emmylou renditions.

mone may have nailed it, though I'm tempted to go with "Dust in the Wind".

My brother tells me he had a junior high teacher that played "Dust in the Wind" to the class because of its profound lyrics or its poetry or something.

But I might have to go with Mone's pick.

Gordon, I like "Close to You"!
I agree with all 3 statements.

I sing close to you at work, so that I can nauseate my co-workers.
Beautiful song. Great song to sing to yourself while shaving (heehee). Burt's a master.

Yep, I agree with Mone's pick.

The difference between "We Built This City" and the other picks like "Macarena" and "Wooly Bully" is that Starship was dead serious. And that, my friends, sucks.

Milli Vanilli--My memory has mercifully blocked out the song title but not only was it horrendously bad, it turned out they lip-synced it.....

Poison--Every Rose Has Its Thorn--just like eeeeeevery hair band, has a slowwww cliche song....

I put Mone in the lead with Clint Hopson so far behind I'd need the Hubble to see him.

And leave the Macarena alone! That's like saying the Electric Slide is a repetitive record. It's a dance record, you're not supposed to critique it, you're supposed to get up off your butt and dance to it!

A couple years ago I took some shit on the rec.music.bluenote site for mentioning "Bei Meir Bist Du Schon" as a song I particularly hated.

Haven't changed my mind, though.

I'm one of those people who get horrible songs stuck in their head, sometimes for days.

Reading this thread has me wanting to jump out a window.

And Mone certainly nailed it. SHIT@!

Just today I heard a song by a guy named Lee Greenwood. Never heard of him or the song before. It was something about patriotism. Pure crap. Maybe not top ten crap, but it was up there.

SqDC Steve, I'm surprised at you (though I too hate "You're Having My Baby")!

"Muss I Den" ("Wooden Heart")

"Ballad of the Green Berets"

And another vote for "Lady in Red." Every time I hear the "REEEEDDD!" part, which sounds off pitch (or something) to me, I'm afraid I'll have a cerebral hemorrhage.

Speaking of off pitch (I believe), "Karma Chameleon"

Only worse.

That reminded me of that episode of the Simpsons with the group Hooray for Everything singing Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side".
