CD Labels ------- Help Please.
I've finally mastered my Denon cd-burner, I think. and am in need of advice. I'd like to buy softwear for my Macintosh and requisite paper product for making labels for the cd's I burn. I've checked the literature on the internet and theres just too much of it.
would any of you folk who have solved this problem please advise me which of the multitude of products out there you have found satisfactory??
Many thanks.

Add-on labels really aren't recommended. Even the best could potentially cause problems in your CD player. Stick with the Sharpie!
Here's a more balanced opinion, frank:
About paper CD labels

Don't use a sharpie, that solvent-based ink bleeds into the CD and can cause problems, use a water based marker such as Dixon Redisharp plus. The labels have certain benefits for the longevity of the cdr.......but have their own problems. I personally use a mnemonic architectural system developed by Giordano Bruno to remember where I've placed specific unmarked cdrs.......thank god I live alone where no one can disrupt my carefully maintained system.

I use paper labels all the time, Frank, and have never had a problem. In fact, I have several hundred labels scanned from real disks in my computer, and on my CD-Rs.
However, I dont have a Mac, so I cant advise you specifically. FYI, I use Neato and have been happy with the software and labels.

Paper labels are prone to peeling, especially if you don't get the right blanks. They can curl with heat, which happens in many computers. They jam in many slot-loading players (like the ones in cars). I wouldn't recommend paper labels for all of these reasons.
I'm thinking about getting one of those Epson printers that print right onto the CD-R. Yeah, I'll have to get inkjet-compatible blanks, but the results may be worth it. They sell one for around $100. The biggest problem would be that it's a 6 ink cartridge system. Expensive when you run out of ink.

Yeah, I know, I've had CDR's go bad and the only thing I could think of is that I used to color the whole thing with sharpie scribbles. However my new system, enables me to store encyclopedias worth of information in my head as well as the various locations of the unmarked cdr's littering my house. Bruno friggin' rules. Just ask Francis Yates........

You oughter patent that sucker, Letch. My own head's personal "system" contains RAM enough for the simultaneous maintenance of no more than one (pretty small) piece of information and one (commonly objectionable) image.

Thanks to you folks, problem is resolved----
Between the flap about sharpie pens and the multiple negative reviews of the Epson cd printer, I was really puzzled by the problem. I finally called up Amazon and found that there were a potload of cd pens available, made by cd companies like Maxell,Memorex and Philips, among others. The cheapest and easiest way out, I figure. We'll see. Thanks all you guys.

I had one of those labels peel off in my car stereo. Not good times.
