You REALLY Got ME
The Kinks to Jimi Hendrix were the personification of 60s Rock, IMO.
The mid to late 60s produced some of THE best Rock and Roll in the HISTORY of the genre.
Feelin' Alright- Traffic
Volunteers-Jefferson Airplane
Ride My See-Saw- Moody Blues
Room to Move- John Mayall
I'm Waiting For My Man- Velvet Underground
Purple Haze- Jimi Hendrix
I could go ON.
Your choices for 60s Rock Nervana...?
TimMc
Volunteers of America.

I saw the Airplane during their Volunteers phase, in Asbury Park of all places. It was, at the time, still something of a thrill (I was about 16) to hear them proclaim, "Up against the wall, motherfucker!" Easily impressed at that age, I guess. I was pretty into 'Lather' around then too and had earlier thrilled to 'White Rabbit'. Now that I think about it, I might even have to credit that rather abstract portion of 'After Bathing at Baxter's', the part with the mixed- in conversations, with opening my ears a bit to other sound possibilities. So yeah, I'd have to give them some props, despite eventually producing the Worst Song of All Time.

I've seen a lot of groups in concert...I only wish I could have seen Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones and the Who.
It is the musical cross I bear.

You can't still see the Rolling Stones? They have at least three more farewell tours in them before Keith's machinery starts to break down.

True enough.
I never saw Rolland Rashan Kirk either.
There are SO many others.
Who haven't YOU seen?

Goodie, speaking as a fellow Baby-Boomer, you have got to cut out this constant referral back to the '60s. You're making the rest of us look bad, dude. We already look bad in so many other ways...

Don't worry, Doc. Goody doesn't represent any particular age, genre, religion, political affiliation or social circle. He is entirely unique. Sui generis, baby.

Valerie,
The good news is the kids got all the accolades they deserved.
The bad news is it cost me...big.
My Principal wonders if I can do the job.
Basically, I won the battle, but lost the war.
I tried.
I really did.
In my world, loss of [teacher] life is of less importantance than loss of recognition.
Parental suppostion takes presidence over real teacher issues.
I dodged a bullet...and I feel lucky.
Damn.

To me. And all the other people here born after 1969. But then even Brian sounds old talking about his antiquated loft stuff.
But it's ok because all of you old farts are entertaining with your 60's stuff. When exactly was this revolution ya'll were always talking about, because I can't find it in the history books?

The establishment has erased it from all history books. We will tell you more when you're old enough.

Goody missed this post, so I'm going to try to put it directly in his line of vision:

Goody, he's a jazz musician, so on this board, even in the devil-may-care Alley, you've got to get his name right. Fair enough?
