The same thing happens every fricking year. I see that the government had made some improvements, but it obviously needs to go back to the drawing board. Lord knows that Saudi Arabia is wealthy enough to beef up the infrastructure and the crowd control adequately.

You might want to quit throwing rocks at the devil, anytime you see hundreds of bodies lying around and thousands injured. That's a little rule I go by. Hundreds of bodies? Thousands injured? Slip the rock back in your pocket and back away.

Allah Akhbar! Being trampled is a small price to pay to make sure you're on time for the stoning, isn't it?

In such a situation, it's often impossible to back away. I've nearly been trampled in crowds myself.

I'm sure you go right to Muslim heaven if you get trampled in a Hajj crowd at Mecca, and get your seventy virgins and all that. You folks just don't have enough faith in Allah. Infidels!

I don't actually mean this, nor want to disrespect the beliefs and rituals of my Muslim brothers, but I can't help but think of this:

Whew, I'm glad I decided not to be a muslim and to not go to Mecca.
Wonder who spooked the herd.

Seventy Virgins?! I’m surprised it’s not forty, from Aramaic meaning many. You know, “It rained for forty days and forty nights”, “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves”, Lent is forty days long , wandering the desert for forty days, and the ever popular Chicken with forty cloves of garlic. The number forty comes up a lot.
Seventy, Damn!

Please, I would have done it by now if I was going to use this senseless tragedy to make an obvious point about Those People.

That is a funny one, Coda.
However, I think the women in Muslim heaven are mostly consigned to the kitchen. For them, it's probably not much better than Muslim hell.

One, the same, religion can be had and/or interpreted by smart folks and dumbasses alike. It's not a slant on the religion, at least as far as I'm concerned.
