David,

We'll be there on Wednesday for Satoko Fujii + and Kenny Wheeler +, perhaps returning for NOJO with Sam Rivers +. Maybe a Wednesday get together between shows?

Say, what happened to the other Vancouver thread? It's disappeared...

Arghh. no Vancouver for me this time. Too much going on. David, let me know if/when you're going to be in Seattle and we'll get some grub on and a show.

Sorry to hear you can't make it Joe.

Stand outs so far:

Paul Plimley / Mark Helias duo was absolutely fantastic from the first note onward. For 2 guys who rarely play together and have "never even talked on the phone", as Plimley put it. There was serious telepathy going on. I sure hope the recording's released, so you can all hear it. "Not a speck of cereal!"

Eddie Prevost Trio (with John Edwards on bass, Tom Chant on soprano and tenor sax) played some incredibly healing music that surpassed all expectations. Completely selfless group think, very intense live experience which may not transfer to record so well. So, Joe, and anyone else who's contemplating coming up, these guys are playing Monday night at Western Front. If you can make it, do. Absolute force of nature!

More later, hopefully...

Roughly 1/2 hour to departure time! See ya'll there. Bright Moments.

Sorry you can't make it, Joe, we'll have to hook up in Seattle soon.

I'd really like comments from anybody who caught the Sallis/Satta set or NOJO.

NOJO I just love and I was also very impressed with Salis / Satta in Montreal this year.

I'm fascinated that while I was fascinated with Salis and Satta, they nearly emptied the room and other people who saw the show didn't like it.

Hey, chaz...

We missed that show, but maybe it wasn't such a great loss after reading David's comment (and his e-mail to me with more details.)

Sean Bergin blew me away in the two sets I heard with different groups. Check him out when you can.

Eddie Prevost and Han Bennink for the first time live were definite highlights too. Kenny Wheeler was sublime! Satoko Fujii a bit of a disappointment, though the set was okay in some ways, perhaps my sights were set too high.
