On Thursday, June 12 a seven day auction will begin on Ebay.com for a signed, Limited Edition HERMAN LEONARD PRINT of Miles Davis on stage at the 1955 Newport Jazz Festival with Percy Heath on bass and Gerry Mulligan on baritone sax.

This handsomely framed print (16"x20"; signed by Herman Leonard) is from a limited edition given in 1990 to jazz organizations by Gilbey's Gin, then sponsors of Leonard's Images of Jazz touring exhibit. This print is an artist proof hand printed by Herman Leonard, and it is estimated that less than 50 were ever produced. All proceeds benefit the Creative Opportunity Orchestra, a non-profit jazz organization based in Austin, TX.

Herman Leonard was the preeminent Jazz photographer of the 40's and 50's, capturing on film some of the greats of jazz history, including Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, and many others. His entire collection is housed in the permanent archives of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.
