Happy Father's Day!
... to all you fellow Daddyos out there!
Here's a song by Harry Ruby that Groucho Marx used to do, appropriately titled:
FATHER'S DAY
Today, father, is father's day,
And we're giving you a tie.
It's not much we know,
It's just our way of showing you
We think you are a regular guy.
You say that it was nice of us to bother.
But it really was a pleasure to fuss,
For according to our mother,
You're our father,
And that's good enough for us.
Yes, that's good enough for us.

Thank you, and Happy Father's Day to you, my friend.
Patti and I are off to the Pacific Northwest for a couple of weeks, so I'll be enjoying Father's Day dinner tomorrow night in Seattle. Yum.
Enjoy your day, dads!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!
Best wishes to all the Dads out there. Enjoy your tie [or after-shave, or cuff-links].
Monte, and any of the merely expectant Dads, will be included next year.

Happy Father's Day to all Dads out there. I myself became a father on May 1st. Our first child. He was born 2 months premature, which is why I haven't been posting much lately. Between work and running to the hosptial not much free time.
Thank God everything is turning out well. He was only 2lbs 15 oz. when he was born. He's up to 5 lbs 4 oz. as of last night.
He had to have a shunt put in to drain excess fluid from his brain. The excess fluid was putting too much pressure on his brain and wrecking havoc on his system (mostly messing up his breathing)
They installed the shunt last week and now he's doing beautifully. Everything is now working as it should. He needed to bake a few more months in the oven, but had a breach of contract with the landlord.
He should be home in a few weeks. Whenever a doctor or nurse wants to check the spot in his skull where they made the incision he belts them right in the face. So, his motor skills are just fine

Hang in there indeed, Willy.
My Hatettes both wished me happy Father's day by phone; I spent the day driving back from Maryland for my second cousin's second marriage (good thing she's not my third cousin).

Sounds like the little one will be okay, Willy. Good luck.
I had my second Father's Day today! My wife was sick the last couple of days, so I've been a full-time Dad. Very tiring, but worth it.
We spent dinner with my father and my sister, brother and my brother's wife. A lovely time.
Now to bed....
Happy Father's Day to all Dads and Dads-to-be!

I took my son to the Orioles game and met my brother-in-law and his three sons, two of whom had never been to a baseball game before. While we were at the game, my wife bought lobsters for dinner. Ummmm!
Willy, I hope your son is home soon.

A good day to come home, Willy. My best thoughts and prayers for young Andy and you and the missus.
Happy Father's Day all! I called my dad, of course, and I'll see him next week. Always good to talk to the old man--he's a righteous dude. Oops, I didn't get him a tie or after-shave.
Thanks for the thought, patricia. Yup, next year I'll be somebody's old man.

Hey Willy, my thoughts are with you as well my brother. Our son was born a month premature. But luckily he only had to stay in the hospital for a week. His weight was good, but his heart rate as well as his respirations would deviate wildly from one minute to the next.
Scares the hell out of you doesn't it? Never thought I could be so completely attached to a little guy that I only just met face to face, but man seeing him laying there with all those tubes and wires all over the place, it just absolutely kills you inside. And that goddamn BEEPING!! OY!!!
The day you finally bring him home will be the day when life seems normal again(well, except for the fact that you won't be able to stop looking at him for days on end). But trust me, you'll never have made such a hair raising trip home in all your life, as the one you finally get to make with that precious little boy in the back seat!!!!! Don't think I 've ever been so scared behind the wheel in all my life!

My Father's Day tradition is to spin Horace Silver's Song For My Father, which I did do. Wife and mom-in-law presented me with a DVD player, daughter put her latest lovely school picture in a talking frame, which now sits on my desk at work, then we had a BBQ at my Dad's place, watching the Sox pull another one out of the hat.
Willy, for what it's worth, my wife was born premature and that was a long time before they had all the good stuff they have now to help impatient ones get strong. Also, my wife's uncle and one of our good friends are neonatologists, and while the procedures can seem scary, you should feel confident that the docs have the skills and the tools to ensure your son will be lighting up your home in short order.

Good going Willly.
Me? I had a great Dad's day. Got calls from my East Coast kids and grandkids, went to the local zoo where our Kiwanis Club had a big family picnic. Our local kids came with three of our grandbabies. We scarfed down burgers and dawgs (Hebrew National, of course) and the kids pounded down the cake. We had Bumbo, the World's Oldest Clown who entertained the kids and painted their faces. He painted 2 year old Grant to look like a clown and put a little daisy on the face of baby Daisy.
It was a great day and even better being a grandad!

No i'net access on the weekends, but wanted to wish all you fathers and fathers-in-waiting a Happy Father's Day. Where would we be without our dads? On a Paradise Island filled only with Wonder Women? That's not good enough for me!
Willy, I hope your little one is soon home too!

My son-in-law celebrated his first Father's day yesterday. My first grandchild, Matthew, was born on March 3, this year. Robin, my daughter and mom to Matthew, sent a T-shirt to her dad, which has paint-prints of Matthew's little feet and hands on it and, apparantly, signed by him. Too young to print yet? This is MY grandson. He does seem a little advanced, but I think he can do anything he puts his mind to!!

Becoming a father is fun; being a father is rewarding but it also brings with it a lot of heartache, uncertainty, fear, sadness, and worry. One thing that became clear to me when my daughter was born was how little control I have over what happens to her. So much relies on hope, faith, luck, and prayer. My girl is having VERY minor surgery on the 28th, but because she'll have a general, it's worrisome, and of course, I hate to see her be uncomfortable at all. Kids tap such a deep well of love that pain is probably the #1 parental emotion overall.
We all need to be thankful for what blessings we have, and never take our children for granted.

Never truer words spoken.
Thank you all for your concern and kind words.
When I was an ambulance attendant all those years ,believe me I really knew what those above words by Our Gentle Giant meant handling all the children I did and Willy I'm glad to hear your little one is coming along ok.
Got to go see how the boy is doing now.
