Eric Dolphy music in commercial

I just saw a commercial for the American Plastics Council which has 'Hat and Beard' from "Out To Lunch" playing behind it. Suddenly a life of study and admiration of Dolphy seems completely worthwhile. Any other interesting jazz in commercials lately?

I don't know about commercials, but my wife had an amsuing experience recently: she & my daughter were out & encountered a man walking his dog. As they parted & the man was walking away she called out to ask the dog's name. "Dolphy" was the response. "Oh, like Eric Dolphy?" she said. The man spun around & retraced his steps. "You know, only two or three people have ever figured that out."

Supposedly Barney Rossett, of Grove Press, had a dog named Beckett.

. . .off the Dolphy list this morning:

'Go to http://www.plastics.org and click on the
"PlasticsMakeItPossible.org" link on the left.
Click on the "Sports Safety" link, which will
open a new window listing recent advertisements.
The first one, "Miracle," has the "Hat and Beard"
riff. It runs throughout the 30-second clip.
You must have Real Player, or media software
that plays Real Audio files.'

It's kind of great that it's for plastic. After all, that's the word Coltrane used to describe his own sound! At least it's not for an SUV, or some dick-hardening pills.

good thing he didn't name his dog Godot, or he'd always be waiting for it.
