my replies won't stick!
Hi there - I'm having trouble posting replies. I log in, am recognized, get into a forum, read the thread, compose a quick reply, then when I send it, the message disappears and I get a notice that I'm not authorized. Any suggestions? I use Windows XP. Thanks - lhj (here's hoping this posts...)

Hi--
It sounds like a Cookie problem, but I suggest that you try each of these two things:

1. On your browser at the top select Tools, than Internet Options and click the Security tab.
2. Click on "Trusted Sites" (the green circle with the checkmark) and then click the "Sites" button below it.
3. Uncheck the "Require server verification (https: )" button if it's checked, and add www.jazzcornertalk.com to the "Add this Website to the Zone" field. Then click "Add".
4. Click "OK." Then click "OK" again.
5. Close all of your browser windows, then re-open one and try logging onto JC.
6. Send five dollars to Moné Peterson, P.O. Box...

(I know that you can log in, but I don't think that you can "really" log in--that is, have your login info. be retained.)
Please post again and tell us whether the problem is gone.

I have slightly different choices when I click on "tools" - just "options" for instance, instead of "internet options." I use Mozilla Firefox. (maybe that's the problem?) In the Privacy selections, it already allows cookies, nothing exempted. Once in a while a reply does get through - here's hoping this one does! Cheers - lah

Yay - this time it worked. I'll go back to the "Speak Out" forum and try again to post a reply there... lhj

And that time it worked, too. The only thing I've changed is that I ok'd the pop-up request to "remember this ID on log in" somewhere in between posts. Maybe that fixed it? We'll see - thanks for your suggestions - lhj

Edit: I just saw #5, but I'll leave this here anyway.

One more thing: When you log in, check the "Remember Me?" box. Edit: I just read above that you're doing that now--I think.
Someone other than me will have to reply re solutions when one is using Mozilla Firefox. Some other Firefox users here had the same problem and solved it somehow.
You need to be able to post even when you've moved to other pages of Speakeasy, not just on the first one or two pages that you visit.
If a solution isn't forthcoming, I have one final, more "drastic" step to suggest: Somewhere offline, record your user names and passwords for all of the websites you visit that require them. Then clear all of your Cookies--that's right, for all websites. But I'd do that only as a last resort.

Many, many thanks - everything's working well, for now. I just posted a new thread in "Other Music" that stuck just fine. Looks like "remember me" may be the key. Time will tell! Cheers - lhj
