This is actually a great CD and should have been on my 2004 best list (forgot). Oddly, it reminds me a lot of Peter Garland who was on my list. The choice of some Bley (Paul), some classical, some ethnic is a pretty good summary although I wouldn't say it's no big deal.

Inspired by Lois

This is an ECM artist that I follow closely. I can say that now that I have listened to his first ECM from 1998 - No Birch. Not released in the USA and must have been one of the most overlooked releases that year. It's trio with Arve Henriksen and percussionist Sørensen and is highly recommended.

As Nim pointed out on another thread ecm will release two new Wallumrød recordings this year. He didn't say which ones. It's probably a new one with the ensemble and this one: Christian Wallumrød/Ivar Grydeland/Ingar Zach with Xavier.

And for a contrast to the quiet strength on his ECMs, try this one:

Dance This!

Only heard 'No Birch' which I found crushingly bleak & empty. Shame. Arve Henriksen is wonderful (and rightly in demand) but CW so far reminds me of Paul Bley suffering Seasonal Affective Disorder
