A concert to benefit New Orleans musicians who were affected by Hurricane Katrina will be held on May 4 at the legendary Apollo Theater in New York.
Bill Cosby will host “A Great Night in Harlem” on May 4. The Jazz Foundation of America hopes to raise $1.5 million through the concert and corporate donations from businesses such as Time Warner Inc., ETrade Financial and Delta Air Lines.
Since Katrina, JFA has helped more than 900 New Orleans musicians, doing everything from replacing Fats Domino’s piano to helping with mortgage payments.
Performing along with Cosby will be actor Danny Glover and more than 60 musicians, including Abbey Lincoln, James “Blood” Ulmer and Odetta.
