TJ Kirk--self-titled

Wil Benard, Will Schott and Charlie Hunter--guitar
Scott Amendola--drums

Man, I really like this album. I didn't think I could like an album with this kind of line-up. (I love the guitar, but this seems like overkill.) The musicians do a really terrific job of combining rock, funk and jazz.

I think what sets this album a part from other Fusion (actually, you could call it a jam band album) is the compositions. On this one, they're covering Monk, James Brown and Rahsaan Roland Kirk (hence, their name). Maybe it's just me, bu it seems like a lot of Fusion groups don't cover songs--not like this anyway. It's basically a standards album, except done in a jam band style.
