Dawkins and the New Horizons put on a great show last Friday (4/28) at the ICA in Boston. This show was also notable because it's the last BMCA show after a 10 year run curated by Ed Hazell.
The band played a broad range of pieces and included fiery playing from Dawkins , Steve Berry on Trombone and some new young cats on Bass and Drums who's names I've forgotten. Low point for me was the trumpet player (again, I've forgotten his name) who often turned to "loud and high" instead of finding more creative ways of negotiating the musical spaces setup by the band and compositions.

The bass player was Darius Savage and the drummer Isaiah Spencer, a name you will likely encounter more often in the future.
